1) Greetings

Hey friends, happy Halloween from the Station. It's a big Saturday in Waco, with a science show this morning and a parade this afternoon.

2) Prayer

Lord, thank you for this day and for the people we love, here and gone ahead of us. Keep the kids safe on the sidewalks tonight, and help us be kind to every neighbor at the door. Amen.

3) Weather

The National Weather Service has Waco mostly cloudy today, with a high near 77. There's a 40% chance of showers and storms, mostly before 1 PM, and a light east wind. Tonight looks partly cloudy, with a low around 63, so trick-or-treating should be mild.

4) What's happening in Waco

If the morning is wet, head indoors. From 11 to 2, the Mayborn Museum at 1300 S. University Parks Dr. is hosting a Spooky Chemistry Magic Show with Baylor Science Fellows and the American Chemical Society. Everything is indoors, and costumes are welcome. If your child is sensitive to noise, crowds, or lights, ask at the welcome table about accommodations.

The South Waco Library has its 4th Annual Literary Haunted House from 10 to 5:45. It's a not-too-scary haunted house where book villains come to life, and you can fill out a raffle ticket for a chance at a prize. It's free and open to all ages, and children under 10 need to come with an adult.

From 3 to 10 PM, Creative Waco hosts the Día de los Muertos Parade and Festival at Indian Spring Park. This year's theme is Talavera: The Blue That Unites Us. Kids can head to the free Kids Zone for crafts and games and get free calavera face painting. It's free and family-friendly, so bring lawn chairs or blankets. Día de los Muertos is not Halloween, so please leave the Halloween and scary costumes at home for this one. Coolers aren't allowed.

5) From the Station

Our Raven and Gold Moon tee has a fine-line raven perched on a gold crescent moon under small gold stars. It's a WCS original that works for Halloween and the rest of the year, in adult sizes S to 5XL, starting at $19.99.

Today I'm wearing the Raven tee in black, a little moody for Halloween night. My earrings are Pumpkin Pageantry, small silver hoops with a sparkly orange pumpkin and a green stem swinging from each one. They're $8.

See you next time,
